Usage explained

Weeks and points describe different ways to use an interest

The name of a club alone does not tell you what a particular resale allows. Compare the actual documents and current rules.

Usage comparison
TermTypical meaningQuestion to verify
Fixed weekA specified recurring use periodWhich week, unit category and calendar dates apply?
Floating weekReservation within an eligible period, subject to its rulesWhat season and booking window apply, and what is currently available?
PointsA program-defined allocation used under its reservation rulesWhich system, annual amount, expiration and booking priority apply?
BiennialUse on an every-other-year cycleOdd or even years, and when are fees charged?

Do not compare points across unrelated systems

A point is a unit defined by its program. Equal numerical amounts in two programs do not establish equal purchasing power or access. Ask for a relevant reservation example and the rules that govern it.

Check current program documents

For Marriott-related inventory, distinguish the deeded interest, eligible club participation and any exchange benefits. Start with The Marriott Vacation Clubs’ official FAQ and obtain the documents that apply to the specific resale. For Disney Vacation Club interests, ask Member Services to confirm the contract’s permitted resort use and any separate Membership Extras eligibility; consult Disney Vacation Club’s official information.

These links provide a starting point, not a promise that a resale includes every benefit described for a new direct purchase. Rules, eligibility and transfer requirements can change.
